We have completed successfully a two-week artistic residency that paired drama-therapy research with hands-on creation in Sweden, Denmark and Italy. A psychotherapist (Giuseppe Scarabello), three performing artists (Andrea Marchetti, Silvia Brizioli, Cecilia Roni and a cultural worker (Handan Akarsu Scarabello) worked alongside people living with neurodegenerative diseases as Alzheimer’s and other dementias, their caregivers, local musicians and community theatres.

4. Beyond the Silence: Living with Neurodegeneration a 14 minutes short documentary capturing the process, challenges and breakthroughs during this 2 weeks of journey with interviews done with people with neurodegenerative diseases and their caregivers and scenes from the social theatre practice done in Copenhagen.
The mobility closed with a stage play, a documentary, and an open-source practical guide for artists, therapists and care facilities. All materials are freely available to encourage wider adoption of arts-based approaches in dementia care and to spark new collaborations across the cultural and health sectors
